Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since that period of 2023.

Success also means he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had prompted observers to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.

He defended four initial chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
